Crazy bet time

In what is becoming an annual tradition, the PMS crew places crazy bets for the upcoming Blazer season. Here's how it works. We each make a crazy bet, then we discuss if it is crazy enough and then if your prediction comes true you get a cool $5 from everyone else. So without further ado...

Derek: Oden scores 50 points in a game
Loren: Blazers score 130 points in regulation
Chris: Bayless wins Rookie of the Year
Philipp: Rudy (Rudolfo) Fernandez averages more points, assists, rebounds and FG% than Brandon Roy in his rookie year. Minimum 42 games played.

Go ahead and leave your crazy bets in the comments section (please note we ain't paying you anything). We'll leave you with some Oden love.

All Star game goes late but not a yawner

Now that was a pretty good All Star game, as far as All Star games go. A nifty 4 hour 50 minute 15 inning game. The NL lost (again) after holding the lead (again) two leads in fact. But all of that has come to be expected.

However the game did bring out some flaws in the system. MLB (Selig) needs to take a look at this. They need to make sure the managers are managing the game to win and not to play all of their players if the game is going to “count” as MLB puts it. They also need to take the voting away from fans if this game is going to count. Let the managers in the respective leagues vote. However I like the idea of the fans voting. Heck this whole event is supposed to be for the fans. And to do that MLB must turn this back into an exhibition and not have it count for home field advantage in the World Series.

Update time

Just letting everyone know that you can now listen to the NBA draft podcast. We record just over 3 hours during the first round and cut it down to just over 19 minuets of goodness. You'll get to hear Loren, Chris, Philipp, and I talk about the first 13 picks of the draft and the Bayless trade. Short version all of us love it.

The new schedule is out for the show. It's pretty much the same except that we've been added to Tuesdays at 10pm on Channel 11, which will allow more folks to watch.

Now on to some NBA news, the Blazers rivals (and I call them that loosely since I never really witnessed anything that looked like a rivalry) to the north will e moving. The Seattle Sonics will leave and go to Oklahoma City in a move that everyone knew was going to happen. We'll talk a bit about it on the next show airing July 9. Let us know if you have any questions.
